What We Offer
Top-Notch Academics
On average, SCS students pace ahead and perform better than their counterparts in both the Springfield area and throughout Illinois. SCS is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and affiliated with the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) and the Illinois Association of Non-Public Schools (IANPS).
Differentiated Instruction
Since one size does not fit all when it comes to educating children, SCS seeks to understand how each child is uniquely wired and then offers learning opportunities that are right-sized for their development.
Spiritual Development Opportunities
Through weekly chapel, daily Bible lessons and the integration of God’s Word into each subject, SCS helps students build an authentic faith that will last.
Community Service
Kindergarten through 8th graders are given regular opportunities to serve in our community and participate in God’s work around the world.
Student Support
Our dedicated Student Support Team provides one-on-one coaching for students struggling in particular academic or organizational areas. This team also provides accelerated opportunities for students who are ready for an extra challenge.
K-1 Classroom Aides
Not only are our class sizes smaller than most public schools, we help students build a strong educational foundation by offering a skilled classroom aide for every Kindergarten and 1st grade classroom.
Award-Winning Fine Arts
Our heralded art, band and choir programs regularly receive state-wide recognition for outstanding performance.
Athletic Opportunities
SCS athletic programs for grades 5-8 include basketball, baseball, cross-country and track for boys and basketball, volleyball, cross-country and track for girls. More than winning on the field or the court, our championship-caliber program trains athletes how to win in life by honoring Christ.
Honors Math
SCS offers an honors math program to junior high students with especially strong math and reading scores. Students who successfully complete the honors math program typically receive high school credit for Algebra II, which paces them toward taking Calculus II as a senior in high school for college credit.
Student Clubs
Our robust extra-curricular programming includes Art Club, Scholastic Bowl, Speech, Student Council, Tech Club, Yearbook and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
47-Acre Campus
SCS sits on the wooded, 47-acre campus of West Side Christian Church and features a high-tech auditorium, full-service coffee shop, one of the city’s largest playgrounds and a high-security education wing.
